The Barn Tour RoadRally @ The Frontier Barn Quilt Trail
Oct 6 @ 10:30 am – 3:00 pm

The Fulton Barn Quilt Trail is the largest barn quilt trail in Pennsylvania.  It provides a beautiful drive through scenic valleys nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.  For more details about the Frontier Barn Quilt Trail, visit their official web site.  This Rally will use only a portion of the trail route.  Route and driving directions provided day of check-in.

This Road Rally is designed to provide an enjoyable drive through the country side while conducting a Scavenger Hunt of Barn Quilts.  This Rally is a “social” event and is not based on accurate time and distance.  Scoring will be based on the ability of driver and navigator to answer questions about things seen on the route and staying on course, finishing in the appropriate time frame.  Directions and mileage points will be provided to all participants at the registration check-in.  Check points will be set up along the route.   We are encouraging members and non-members to come out and enjoy the beautiful drive though the mountains of Fulton County.  This would be a great opportunity to get younger family members involved in a driving activity.  We welcome all to participate – SCCA membership is not a requirement.  This event will take place rain or shine.  Only extreme weather conditions would warrant cancelation.

A Road Rally is not a race.  The roads are challenging, sharp curves, steep climbs and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route.  Driver and navigator must work together to stay on course while looking for clues.  Speed does not improve the score.  Accurate answers and description of quilts sited will improve your overall score.   There will be prizes in each class.

In addition to the Road Rally activity there will also be:  Fall Truck And ATV Dirt Drags held at the Fulton County Fair in McConnellsburg, starting at 4 pm.  This is the facility where the Road Rally will start and finish. Visit their Facebook page for more details.

Event Overview

This is a GTA/Social Road Rally. There are no points towards any championship.

There are many variations of Road Rally—this is a “social” rally, which does not require participants to track time and accurate distance. Instead, each vehicle has a navigator who will read directions and route questions, and the driver will follow the instructions. The goal is to drive the directions accurately, look for barn quilts along the way, and answer questions about the quilts and the route. At the end of the rally, the driver and navigator team will submit their answer sheet to be tallied. Scoring and determination/announcement of winners will occur at the conclusion of the event.

The intention is to have a pleasant Saturday drive, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself, enjoy the view and spot the quilts! This is a rural route and there will not be facilities along the way (only one bathroom stop!). Make sure to use the restroom before departing, and take water and snacks along for passengers.

Additional Notes of Importance:

  • The official instructions will be provided at the check-in at on-site registration; mileage will be included to help you determine if you are on course.
  • Each navigator should have a pencil or pen (and perhaps a clip board) to record answers to the event questions.
  • Vehicles will depart the start point with at least one minute between each vehicle, and each vehicle will have a number I.D.
  • There will be check points along the route to verify that participants are on the correct route.
  • Warning: don’t play follow the leader! Vehicles ahead of you may make a wrong turn.
  • Each car will be driving approximately 60 miles, total.
  • This is NOT a race; ALL traffic laws must be followed.

Tire Rack Street Survival! @ Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center
Nov 3 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts, too.

It’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING!

Three parents, including Scott Goodyear, former Indy Car Champion, share their perspectives in this video.

Vehicles with modifications that alter the center of gravity (i.e. lift kits) are not acceptable.

HCG vehicles may still be limited with respect to the exercises in which they are allowed to participate based on local venue conditions.

Please look up the HCG vehicle safety score. You can research the safety ratings that a vehicle has received at www.edmunds.com  Input the vehicle and year and look at the safety rating in the upper right corner of the web page.

This review is for HCG vehicles only. Passenger cars do not need to be reviewed.

Any vehicle with a listing of 3 stars or more out of 5 in the Roll Over test will be allowed to participate in our class. We are concerned about the Roll Over test on the HCG only. We are not concerned about the crash test ratings.

These regulations apply only to Susquehanna Region’s RallySprint series events. In cases where specific venues require additional rules and guidelines, additional regulation documentation may be developed by the Region’s RallySprint committee at the discretion of the RallySprint Chair(s) and will be used in conjunction with these regulations unless otherwise specified.

In general, we ask our participants to use common sense and consider the following:
● Paddock/ grid speed limit is 10 mph
● Spinning of tires anywhere on or near the site (except on course) is grounds for immediate ejection from the event
● No reckless driving at the event including out on course
● No minor under the age of sixteen (16) is allowed in grid unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
● Never turn your back on a moving vehicle, especially when working the course
● No horseplay involving a moving vehicle
● All pets must be on a leash at all times; and may not be in any “hot” areas (grid/course)
● Anyone at an event who must work under their vehicle MUST have that vehicle supported by jack stands or ramps suitable for soft surfaces.
● Participation while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will not be tolerated
● Use common sense, this list is not exhaustive as there are too many no-no’s to list
WAIVERS
Competitors, workers, crew and guests must sign the SCCA Liability Release Waiver and display the wrist band issued to them to indicate that the waiver has been signed. Persons participating at any level of event activity who are under the age of 18 must have the appropriate Minor Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement Forms Completed by their parent or legal guardians. Forms are available at registration.
RUN PROCEDURE
We will run five (5) legs, or three (3) runs of the course each. Each leg will be separated by a service time of varying length depending on the event.
CAR/DRIVER LIMITS
There will be a maximum of two drivers per car per car.
METHOD OF TIMING
Our events will be electronically timed using synchronized clocks at start and finish. Times are reported and recorded to the second. Alternate timing methods, including but not limited to manual timing with stop watches, may be implemented in the event of a systemic timing failure, at the discretion of the RallySprint Chair(s).
PENALTIES
● In the case of a Did Not Finish (DNF) or a jump start, a bogey time will be awarded for that run. Bogey times will be calculated based on an individual competitor’s slowest time plus 2 minutes, including penalties, per run group. In the event a competitor DNFs on the first run, the bogey time will be based on the slowest subsequent run. If no subsequent runs are completed, all runs will be scored as a Did Not Start (DNS) (999 seconds).
● 30 Second penalty for each strike of any element of a chicane.
● Any vehicles or competitors entering the service area outside of the designated schedule time, or being provided tools, parts, or assistance by anyone but competitors will receive a 5 minute penalty.
● Drivers are ultimately responsible for ensuring they receive the correct number of runs per session. Any runs not taken will be forfeited and scored as a DNF.
SCORING
Each driver will be scored on his/her total accumulated time for all official runs, including penalties. Times for a given run for an entire class or heat may be discarded at the discretion of the RallySprint Chair(s) and Timing Chief if it is determined that there was an unfair advantage/disadvantage for any competitor.
PROTESTS
All rules concerning protests are governed by Article 5.2 of the 2020 RXR.

Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally @ Shermans Dale, PA
Sep 24 @ 8:00 am – 8:00 pm

About this event

Registration fees

Registration: $45 per car

Inspired by the nationally-known (but in no way affiliated) Lemons Rally, the Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally is designed to provide an enjoyable drive through the countryside while conducting a Scavenger Hunt. This “Rally” is a social event and is not based on accurate time and distance – in fact, each team picks their own route to maximize points the way that suits each team the best. Scoring is based on the ability of the team to use clues to find target locations, while leaving enough time to find their own way to back to the start point in the allotted time frame. Each team will be provided with a packet with rules and instructions on how to post pictures on instagram to mark way-points and collect points. Someone on your team needs an instagram account for your team to get points! This is a great opportunity to get younger family members involved in a driving activity. This event will take place rain or shine. Only extreme weather conditions warrant cancellation.

A Road Rally is not a race! OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. The roads are challenging, sharp curves, steep climbs and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route. The driver and navigator must work together to stay alert while looking for clues. Speed does not improve the score. Bring water for the team, and fuel up when you can there isn’t any sweep car…it’s up to the team to make it back

REGISTRATION

Register here for $45. All licensed drivers are welcome to participate! Once registered, make sure that your name shows up on the entry list to confirm your entry.  Walk-ups will NOT be accepted. An SCCA membership is required for insurance purposes. For all drivers that are not annual SCCA members, weekend memberships are required and can be purchased during online registration. All passengers that are non-SCCA members will have to sign up for a trial membership at no additional cost. We will have trial membership form on site.

EVENT OVERVIEW

This is a GTA/Social Road Rally. There are no points towards any championship.

There are many variations of Road Rally—this is a “social” rally, which does not require participants to track time and accurate distance. Instead, each vehicle has a navigator who will read directions and figure out the best route, and the driver will follow the instructions. The goal is to drive and find the best route to maximize points. At the end of the rally, there will be a small award ceremony where winners will be announced.

The intention is to have a pleasant Saturday drive, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself, enjoy the view and spot some random stuff

Additional Notes of Importance:

  • The official instructions will be provided at the check-in at on-site registration; you get to determine your own route.
  • Each team should have a pencil or pen (and perhaps a clip board) to record stuff and things at this event.
  • Vehicles will depart the start point at after the driver meeting.
  • Each team will need an Instagram account
  • There will be no checkpoints along the route to verify that participants are on the correct route.
  • Warning: don’t play follow the leader! Or do, the other team could be doing something dumb.
  • Each car/team will need a mascot that must be included in all photographs/Instagram posts of way-points/checkpoints for scoring purposes
  • Mascot should be a handheld item to represent the team
  • Each team should bring a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car for the judges (it could help your score).
  • This is NOT a race; ALL traffic laws must be followed.
  • Speeding ticket will disqualify you from this event.

REQUIREMENTS

You must show your valid driver’s license. If you are not an SCCA member, a weekend membership form must be completed via MotorsportReg.com for $15. Other team members/navigators that are not SCCA members will need to fill out a trial membership form on site

Driver qualifications:

  1. A valid driver’s license and a car
  2. Capable of listening to the navigator or team or pack of wolves and remembering what they were told about why they are driving around South Central PA
  3. “Team” is used loosely, you could fly solo but that is extra dumb

Team qualifications:

  1. Some organizational ability (to handle the paperwork and keep track of route instructions)
  2. Not prone to motion sickness while reading in the car (if you do get motion sick, taking medicine prior to the event often allows you to still enjoy the event)
  3. Ability to post to Instagram
  4. Some light googling
  5. Teammate could be a pet rock (but they suck at googling)

Notes:

  1. Number of passengers in the vehicle must not exceed the legal passenger capacity for the vehicle.

About this event

Registration fees

Registration: $25 per car

Adventure Scavenger Roadrally; The South Mountain Edition is designed to provide an scenic drive through the countryside while enjoying a Scavenger Hunt. This “Roadrally” is a social event and is not based on accurate time and distance – in fact, each team picks their own route and is able to maximize points the way that suits each team the best. Scoring is based on the ability of the team to use clues to find target locations, while leaving enough time to finding their own way to the finish location in the allotted time frame. Each team will be provided with a packet of rules and instructions. There will be two classes, Polaroid and Instagram. The Polaroid class will get instructions on how to turn in there pictures for scoring. If your team chooses the Instagram class. There will be instructions on how to post pictures on instagram to mark way-points and collect points.

The roads are challenging, sharp curves, steep climbs, small towns with pedestrians and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route. The driver and navigator must work together to stay alert while looking for clues. Speed does not improve the score. Bring water for the team, and fuel up when you can there isn’t any sweep car…it’s up to the team to make it back

The intention is to have a pleasant Sunday drive, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself, enjoy the view and spot some random stuff.

There will be 2 classes

  1. Instagram class
  2. Polaroid class
